Ever wondered what it’s like to work here? For the inside view on life at our agency, let me introduce you to our latest recruit:

Account Director, Amanda Ashburner joins our team with a wealth of experience having managed the event portfolios for charities such as Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and Dove House Hospice. She’s also worked directly with brands including; Unilever, House of Fraser, and New Look. A dab hand at pulling together everything from roadshows, exhibitions, and conferences, to press launches, fashion shows and festivals, Amanda is now turning her talents to experiential retail events for us!

We asked her a few questions about what it has been like, working for Maynineteen so far:

What first attracted you to Maynineteen?

I did my research before applying for the role and the variety of events that Maynineteen produces really stood out. But more importantly for me, it was the creativity and the quality of each event. It was clear the production value was high, with everything finished to a very high standard. Working in Account Management, the ultimate aim is to ensure the client is happy with the outcome and the agency obviously set the bar high. I wanted to be part of that!

Tell us your first impressions of the agency:

It seems like everyone here is creative but what struck me first is how organised the agency is. The logistics here run like clockwork and the team is tight and very motivated. They all work together in harmony, they’re friendly and quick to offer advice when it’s needed. Nobody struggles with a heavy workload because everybody gets stuck in to help.

What are you working on?

I’m just wrapping things up on lots of pitch proposals right now. We’ve got lots of exciting projects in the pipeline for both existing clients and some interesting new ones. We’re focussed on delivering activations that incorporate new digital technology and thinking about key events in 2018 such as the Royal Wedding.

Describe a typical day:

It’s probably early days to describe a typical day for me but as all the proposals I’ve been working on are starting to enter the production stage I’m expecting to be out on the road a lot more in the coming months, meeting clients and doing site visits across the UK. For now, I’m enjoying the easy commute that comes from living nearby and all the extra sleep I’m getting as a result. To give that some context – In my last role my day started at 5:00am and would often face a 2-hour drive to and from work! At the end of the day here, I can even go to the gym – I’ve got no excuses seeing as though it’s literally across the road from the office!

Any highlights so far?

I’ve really enjoyed having the time to just sit and get creative. Ordinarily, this is done alongside the production of other projects which makes it difficult to dedicate the headspace needed for the creative process. Taking the time to thoroughly research new concepts is generating some exciting ideas and this has definitely been a highlight for me.

What are you most looking forward to?

I am looking forward to getting out and about on-site to begin the logistical process of organising each event and seeing all my ideas come to life! To be involved in every aspect of a project, from the initial concept stage, right through planning, to management and successful delivery is so rewarding. I’m also looking forward to a night out with the team, although I haven’t experienced one yet, I’ve heard the stories so I’m expecting it to be a lot of fun!

If this sounds good, guess what? We’re hiring! Visit our job page for more details and who knows, you might be working alongside Amanda in a couple of months.
